Julio Artusi
was born in Concepción del Uruguay, Argentina, and came to
Brazil in 1973. He has been living in Angra dos Reis, Rio de Janeiro
State for more than 10 years.
When he
was a teen, he developed a strong interest for plastic arts, but
family prejudices led him to the Business School instead of the
art career. When he was 55, encouraged by his wife, the Colombian
artist Monique Stiernon, he started painting and for several years
he had attended the studio of plastic artist Sebastião Rodrigues
in Rio de Janeiro.
Fifteen
years ago, after his successful executive career in multinational
companies, he started his full-time activities as plastic artist.
His love
for the sea, and his background in nautical sports, as diving, sailing,
swimming and canoe, are so involving for him that today marine works,
undersea paintings and, obviously, many paintings with inspiration
on houses and important historical sites in Angra dos Reis are present
in his work. This is a way to preserve, through his paintings, the
history of the city he adopted as home.
The art
is extremely important for the life of Julio Artusi, and this importance
is reflected in frequent exhibits and media presence.
The result of his work:
18 Collective
